Eastern State Penitentiary - Philadelphia Pennsylvania

September 2008
A 5-hour ride on an Amtrak train & we arrived at Philly's 30th Street Station, just a few blocks from this historic prison. About 2/3 of the facility is open to roam freely & photograph.
Lengthy guided tours are offered but certainly not to my liking. Opened in 1836, it remained in use until 1971 & the interior is in dismal condition.
Lighting is dim & tricky but overall made a great photo essay- enjoy~!
